As usual this must be answered with the caveat "all real estate commissions are negotiable". "Chicagoland" is really no different than other areas for commercial real estate, unless Al Capone has been reborn. Generally, a commission on a transaction of $10 - $25 million will be in the range of 1% - 1.5% on each side. This may go as low as 1/2% on sales in the higher ranges. Keep in mind a half-a-loaf is sometimes better than no loaf at all.
