Site Selection Jobs

Curious if anyone here has ever worked in the capacity of site selection for a corporate client (i.e. restaurant, retailer, etc). More specifically, how do these jobs pay, what the exit opportunities are, etc? Specifically, I am looking at a position with a nationally traded restaurant chain looking for a "Real Estate Director". I have experience buying and managing retail centers, so I feel there is usable experience I have which I could leverage into this type of position. Any thoughts?
