Should a Buyer who is a syndication within a big brokerage company expect half of the comm's on a apt. deal

is it common practice for the buyer acting as buyers agent for a syndication of agents within a big brokerage company expect to be paid half of the commissions on a $5million dollar deal of multifamily. the listing agent is from a different brokerage company and not a part of the syndication.

My question would be, did he put the buyer's together and is the buyer's agent handling the buy side of the transaction. If he is, why would he not be paid for his services. Also, as an agent, his broker may have input or language in the independent representation agreement between broker and agent as to this scenario.
