The best way is to speak to as many owners and tenants in commercial property. The Yellow Pages has tenants or Hill Donnelly books which have owner information, are great to call from. Call other brokers and look at the property that is available so you know what different types of property look like. The bottom line is to just put one foot in front of the other every day to learn something new. In time you will be more comfortable with yourself and what you know. Gook Luck and don't give up. It takes time to be rolling in the commercial part of real estate.

Word of mouth advertising is the cheapest and best method of expansion. Do a good job for an Owner and ask them to pass your name on to others who may need a good manager. Pass out business everywhere you go to let people know that you are in the business and looking to take on more responsibility. Stay away from expensive newspaper ads as that will fast deplete any reserves you have built up and not have too many results for the cost!
