For your Investment/Developer side first take some CCIM classes, some of the professionals that take those classes are MAIs already. For the appraisal side, your local community college should have the state required courses for you to take to pass your Apraisal license. Good luck.

I keep asking the question about the development side myself, the things I usually hear are get a masters degree at a school like USC who offers degrees in Real Estate Development. Join ULI, CCIM, and ICSC and take courses with them and network with those in the industry. Then try to land at least an unpaid internship. I got into real estate by doing an unpaid internship and after alot of hard work I am now in leasing and in years to come will look at getting into development.
