The Stock Markets volatility can drive money into real estate fro a equity perspective but it can also affect the debt markets so much that commercial rel estate and really ALL real estate and the stock market are inextricably linked.
Actually ALL Investments are linked as the captial pool and the availability of $ is what drives it all!

Thank you for your question about the impact of the stock market on California Commercial Real Estate.
The stock market has a large impact on commercial real estate in California because several major Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT's) are publicly traded stocks, including Glendale based Public Storage. Furthermore, the availability of capital including equity (stocks) dictates commercial development.
